BACK TO SCHOOL PROGRAM - ABSA AND GA-SEGONYANA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY
On 30 January 2026, Mayor Neo George Masegela in partnership with ABSA Bank went on a back to school program of handing out Dignity Packs (Sanitary Towels & basic toiletry) to two schools in Ga-Segonyana. Rremogo High School in Maruping and Rekgaratlhile High School in Seoding. This partnership addresses a critical barrier to education: period poverty. For many young girls, the lack of access to basic sanitary products leads to missed school days which affects their academic year. By providing these essential items, Absa and the Office of the Mayor are ensuring that no girl child is forced to choose between her education and her personal dignity. "Education is the most powerful tool for change, but it remains out of reach if our learners are hindered by a lack of basic necessities. Our partnership with Absa is a testament to our commitment to keeping the girl child in school, ensuring she can participate in her lessons with confidence, regardless of her monthly cycle. " said Mayor Masegela.
