GA-SEGONYANA AND DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND SANITATION ESTABLISH COMMUNITY WATER AND SANITATION FORUM

On 04 March 2026, Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality hosted the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) at the Municipal Chamber for an engagement on the establishment of a Water and Sanitation Community Forum (WSCF). The initiative forms part of the Department’s broader programme to empower communities to become Water and Sanitation Ambassadors, strengthening collaboration between government, municipalities, water service authorities and community stakeholders. Water and Sanitation Community Forums serve as important platforms that promote community participation, information sharing and coordinated responses to water and sanitation challenges. The forums also support awareness campaigns on matters such as water conservation, reporting of leaks, environmental care and community education. Through this initiative, communities will be better positioned to engage with government, contribute to solutions and support sustainable water management while strengthening communication on service delivery matters. The establishment of the forum marks an important step towards enhancing community participation, improving stakeholder relations and advancing sustainable water and sanitation services in Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality.

Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality is today, 04 March 2026, continuing with Day Two of the IMIS (Integrated Municipal Information System) Customer Care Module Training, facilitated by TGIS (Total Geo-Spatial Information Solutions). The training is equipping officials from the Revenue and Debt Collection Unit and the Infrastructure Department with enhanced skills to effectively utilise the system in managing and coordinating customer-related queries. Through this hands-on engagement, officials are strengthening their ability to accurately capture, track and respond to service requests on the system, contributing to improved turnaround times and strengthened accountability. The initiative forms part of the Municipality’s ongoing commitment to modernising internal systems, improving operational efficiency and ensuring responsive service delivery to the community.

MPAC Strengthens Oversight and Accountability

On Wednesday, 11 February 2026, the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) convened at the Ga-Segonyana Council Chambers in Kuruman to advance its oversight mandate in line with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA). The Committee considered the 2024/25 Annual Report Oversight Process Plan, reviewed the Draft Annual Report, and deliberated on the 2026/27 MPAC Annual Work Plan — key steps in ensuring transparent governance and responsible financial management. Through structured oversight, public participation, and engagement with management, MPAC continues to reinforce accountability, safeguard public resources, and strengthen institutional integrity. SPEAKER MADIKIZA HONOURS INVITATION TO MOTHIBISTAD REAOBOKA

Speaker Keamogetse Madikiza honoured an invitation by the Mothibistad Reaoboka Elderly Organization, a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to the care and development of senior citizens aged 60 years and above. The Speaker was accompanied by the Ward 15 Councillor Mthuthuzeli Valela and the Chief Whip Cllr Charles Phillips during the visit to the organisation which plays a critical role in promoting the welfare, dignity and active ageing of elderly residents in the Mothibistad area. The purpose of the visit was to formally convey a Council resolution relating to the Memorandum of Understanding to be entered into regarding the municipal land to the organisation. The resolution supports the agreement between the parties for land in pursuit of food production and wellness programmes aimed at improving food security, health, and overall wellbeing of elderly persons. Speaker Madikiza reaffirmed Council’s commitment to supporting initiatives that empower senior citizens, promote sustainable livelihoods, and enhance community-based social development. She emphasised that partnerships with non-profit organisations remain central to advancing inclusive development and responsive local governance. The Mothibistad Reaoboka Elderly Organization welcomed the Council’s support, noting that the agreement will significantly strengthen their programmes and contribute to improved quality of life for elderly beneficiaries.

MAYORAL CLEANING CAMPAIGN : Mayor Leads Cleaning Campaign in Mothibistad

Today on the 06 February 2026, Mayor Neo Masegela led a hands-on Cleaning Campaign at Mothibistad Park, joined by PETCO, Councillors, municipal officials and community members. Working side by side, teams cleared litter, removed illegal dumping and restored public spaces — demonstrating that building a clean and safe Ga-Segonyana requires all of us. The Municipality acknowledges community concerns around water supply and road conditions. These remain priority areas receiving ongoing attention and intervention. At the same time, initiatives like this campaign show practical action on the ground while broader service delivery programmes continue. Clean surroundings protect our health, prevent infrastructure damage and strengthen community pride. Let’s continue working together to keep Mothibistad clean, safe and dignified.
